چکیده

Abstract Climate-smart forestry can be regarded as the evolution of traditional silviculture. As such, it must rely on smart harvesting equipment and techniques for a reliable effective application. The introduction sensors digital information technologies in forest inventories, operation planning, work execution enables achievement desired results provides range additional opportunities data. latter may help to better understand management options health, timber quality, many other applications. intelligent machines multiply beneficial effect data gathered monitoring management, resulting operations being more sustainable terms costs environment. interaction pushed even further by including processing industry, which assesses physical chemical characteristics wood with optimize transformation process. With support an item-level traceability system, same could provide formidable contribution CSF. “memory” scientists response trees climate-induced stresses design accordingly adaptive silviculture, contributing resilience face future changes due human-induced climate alteration.

Spatial Forest Harvest Scheduling for Areas Involving Carbon and Timber Management Goals

Forest carbon sequestration has become an important ecological service for human society. Given the widespread attention paid to global climate change over the last few decades, a potential need has arisen to develop forest management plans that integrate carbon management and other spatial and non-spatial goals. The objective of this research was to develop a spatial forest planning process by...

Timber Mapping for Site-Specific Forest Management

The adoption of precision agriculture technologies and site-specific management has been limited in the forest industry. Geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensed imagery have been used in forest management, but at a landscape scale, typically to prescribe and schedule treatments for a diverse collection of relatively large tracts. Individual stands have traditionally been treated ...

Forest Operations for Ecosystem Management

The evolution of mod& forest resource management is focusing on ecologically-sensitive forest operations. This shift in management strategies is producing a new set of functional requirements for forest operations. Systems to implement ecosystem management prescriptionsmay need to be economically viable over a wider range of piece sizes, for example. Increasing demands for more efficient fiber ...

Harvest and Post-harvest Operations

Harvest and post-harvest operations constitute principal constraints to rice production, especially in irrigated systems, because of the larger yield that has to be handled. Post-harvest crop losses of up to 35% have been reported and attributed to inefficiency of manual threshing of rice by small-scale farmers. This leads to poor grain quality and rejection of locally produced rice. The Africa...
